A typical mid-March day at 52 degrees on the Noc as this walleye season comes to a close. Ice angling continues this last day for a handful of anglers from near and far. The masses are gone, leaving the ice absent of hundreds of shantytowns across the Bay. This leaves all those fish to the few diehards out there, like the Penguins. I’ve posted about this group of ice camping enthusiasts from Wisconsin before. Their preference is pulling their ice fishing headquarters out on the Bay, but landing conditions weren’t worth the risk. So, go home? Nope! The Penguins camped at the Vagabond, purchased a giant hub from Blade’s, and continued their pursuit of trophy walleyes. By the way, the Vagabond changed ownership last year. Evon and Kenny continue to offer ice anglers access to the Bay. Thanks for your hospitality and for providing anglers a path to their Little Bay de Noc paradise.
In the spotlight for my final Noc report are good friends of Blade’s Bait and Tackle, Rob Kidd and his son Rhett of Gladstone, MI. They definitely know how to finish the walleye season. Nice haul Mr. Rhett!
Until heaven freezes over again…
Increasing your odds,
-Blade
