The Days River Landing has a bunch of water as you head out, but it’s shallow and you get on the shelf of ice and it’s pretty good. The first yellow gate access has great parking on the shoreline due to low water and there is very little standing water. At this point, I’m sure tomorrow that’s going to change. The Kipling Public Landing is still holding up but the heave is nothing to mess with in this warm weather. There’s plenty of areas that are opening up on that. Checking ice thickness today I found anywhere from 5 to 10 1/2” of ice. Our temperatures last night failed to get below 32°. Tomorrow’s high of 42° and partial sunshine is certainly going to have an ill effect on ice conditions.
Some anglers may have seen this ice shoved upward in route to their fishing spot. It’s been there for a while, but really has become noticeable as of late. I stopped by to take a closer look. It’s a crack over a foot wide, with over 8 inches of ice. And these two pieces of ice shoved not along the crack, but in the crack toward each other. I don’t even know if that makes sense. I think the picture says it best.
