Nothing But Ice

Dry as a bone on a wind-blown bay, with only partial sun and wind chills below freezing. Ice conditions continue to be exceptionally good. Landings are holding up so far and should remain passable. Dropping into single digits tonight will keep the ice solid throughout the weekend. Some trucks continue to launch off the Red Gate but are encountering some deeper tire ruts until they get onto the ice. Quads and UTVs seem to perform best compared to snowmobiles due to the lack of snow cover. 

As the sun sets tonight, 8 days are remaining for targeting walleye on Little Bay de Noc. Enjoy!

    Man, this makes me miss ice fishing season already. I’ve had a few trips where the lack of snow made snowmobiles useless and quads saved the day, so that part rings true. I was actually browsing Image to Image last week looking at some ice-fishing photos people shared, and it got me itching to get out there. Eight days left for walleye sounds like a solid excuse to call in sick.
