What the heck, 46°!
There was a little meltdown on the Bay today, thanks to the high temperature of 46° and plenty of sunshine. The snowpack on the ice has softened but remains intact, with no slush. Temperatures in the teens by sunrise will firm up the snow, along with its lumps and bumps, making it rock hard by morning. Walleye action has been limited to tight bite windows in the morning, with a slightly wider window sometime in the afternoon after 4 o’clock until past sunset. Perch are abundant throughout the waters of Little Bay de Noc. Today, Jeff Goff, an accomplished U.P. angler, ventured onto the ice with the quintessential maestro of the Bay, Perch Ninja Marvin Z. That’s a tough pairing and I’d consider it on the verge of cheating. Those perch didn’t stand a chance. Jeff, you absolutely put a thumping on those Little Bay de Noc beauties!
