Ice is nice, and waiting. The next couple of days on the Bay should be productive as the stars align favorably for fish to eat. Several fronts are forecasted to roll in between now and Wednesday, bringing a steady or dropping barometric pressure until Tuesday morning. Above all, weekday attendance on the Bay is minimal compared to angler pressure on weekends. So, three stars align I guess,
Surprisingly, there have been solid perch reports lately. With the wiggler harvesters on strike, we’ve been unable to stock hellgrammites, a delicacy for fish in the Bay. It seems perch also feed on minnows. From 1-inch blues to small walleye suckers, they haven’t been too picky when feeding. Walleye action has started to pick up. Out in Old Blue, Noah Johnson is on the hunt for fish when he’s not helping anglers at Blade’s Bait & Tackle. He iced this 21.5-inch walleye after work yesterday. Good work, Noah! Here at the shop and on the Bay.
Increasing your odds.
