A major meltdown occurs when temperatures warm up to 57°. The real feel was 51°, and was even a few degrees less out on the ice. The wet, reflective ice bounced the sun’s rays right up. Sunscreen and eye shades were essential to avoid squinting and burning your face. If you peeled the layers down to the Speedo, you’re sporting a nice tan line after today. 20-24 inches of soft ice covers the Bay, and water continues to toilet bowl down into any hole or crack it can flow to. Landings are holding up, except for where someone broke through the shoreline at the Kipling Public Launch. I didn’t witness the situation, but the ice there has been avoided by most, navigating around the spot that looks like it’s missing ice. I’m not sure if intel was gathered before proceeding out, but it’s now been tested, and we know. Continue to go around the compromised ice. Pictured tonight is a floating mass encountered near First Reef. Hey, Mr. You forgot your floor!
Increasing your odds,
