My experience on the bay was exactly as I predicted yesterday. Maybe even a little worse off. The rain is pounding and any holes in the ice are toilet bowling water. Be mindful when drilling holes in these conditions. All ice anglers should understand the ice hole toilet bowl swirling table.

Ice remains at 6 inches or more. I’m sure softening with the water on top. By the time I got out on the bay this afternoon I’d heard of said standing water on the ice. Yep, it got deep in some areas. This is the first time I’ve ever floated the WILCraft in water on top of ice. I tried to get out to take a picture and couldn’t without water going over my boot. On another attempt water was an inch from the top of my boot. I stepped back to take a picture of the floating WILCraft when the wind whipped around and my machine started to drift away. Sleet and rain overnight until the Mercury takes a sudden drop around 4 am Friday. Until then, It’s soup out there. Without navigation it’s like wandering into an unknown abyss.
