Now is the best time to be on Little Bay de Noc. 7-8” of safe ice and no truck traffic. Not that it isn’t nice to have the comfort and amenities of a truck out there, but when it comes to the fishing, it’s almost like flipping a switch. And that doesn’t mean you’re not gonna catch fish. It just means they get a little spooked as we add more traffic. You might have to work a little harder. It’s only going to be another week or so before we cross that one foot mark of ice. That’s when you’ll see some jeeps, followed by 1/2 ton then da 3/4 ton trucks and maybe even a duelly tugging a castle.
Speaking of big trucks pulling wagons. Starting next week at Blade’s Bait & Tackle… Drumroll please! The Grateful Cheese, one of a few different food wagons from UP Food Trucks, will be spending some time here in Kipling serving up warm food options before you hit the ice! We welcome this tasty addition at Blade’s starting on January 6th to make your visit even better. Now I’m hungry!
The picture tonight is coming off the ice at the Kipling public landing. It is well groomed.
Increasing your odds,
