Warmer temperatures and extended periods of sunshine, along with longer days on the ice, can take it’s toll on an ice angler. Be sure not to forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and some sammiches. Black Forest smoked ham and cheese or PB&Js are my preference. Choose for yourself. It’s the Michigan Free Fishing Weekend, and it should not be missed—Michigan fishing license or not! That’s right—no license needed and no limits- on the fun you’ll have. What a great opportunity to introduce someone new to this amazing winter activity and get them hooked on ice angling. Ice conditions remain excellent, with perfect snow cover at this time to enjoy a weekend pilgrimage to Little Bay de Noc.
