The weather man said it was going to be 41° in Gladstone today. That may have been, considering the thawed ground around here. But not the ice out on the Bay. It was overcast and a smidge above freezing on Upper Little Bay de Noc. It wasn’t even warm enough to make tire tracks on the ice. We are still maintaining a solid 6 1/2 to 11” of ice. The next couple days will be the final warm up and hopefully the predictions of rain miss us. Either way, this ice is going to hold up well and then we finally get cold temperatures again! Then we can get back to making some more heaves and cracks.
Tonight‘s picture is shortly after sunrise this morning on the bay. Nothing but the faint sound of an angler in the distance walking out with their sled. Peaceful.
Increasing your odds,
