Off The Hook
What a sweet sound! If you call the shop it’s likely the call will be routed to leave a message. The phone is ringing off the hook with so many chomping at the bit to fish first ice. The feeling is mutual and completely understandable that anglers would seek the most up to the moment ice conditions on Little Bay de Noc. Anglers have been venturing out on a couple inches of ice. Sure there is 4 inches of ice to be found but not consistently. My next trip out will be tomorrow morning. A comprehensive inspection of the ice will be done from the Kipling landing up to center reef, over to the Vagabond, down the east side and back west across the mud flats to Lindburg’s Cove Resort. I’ll be in a WILCraft, a completely amphibious machine. Fare warning , not wise to follow tire tracks or use any motorized machine on skinny ice you haven’t checked, The WILCraft’s design distributes weight significantly which allows it to stay on top of ice thicknesses less than it takes to support a human footstep. An archive shot from March 7th, 2025. It’s what’s to come. Stay tuned!
Increasing your odds,
