Jeepers, what a mess from Friday to the present! Winds are blowing at 20 mph out of the north, with gusts exceeding 35 mph. While the wind is common here, a foot of snow accumulation over the weekend isn’t. Typically, we experience more gradual accumulation events, and then the snow blows elsewhere. This batch, however, is here to stay, and whatever blows away is being replaced instantly as the big flakes keep falling right up until Lacy and I came off the ice at 10 o’clock as seen in tonight’s picture. The tracks went on Mr. B.A. last night, which was a good thing; otherwise, the day could have been tougher than it was. Unfortunately, it reached its limitations in some slush. That was a complete operator error on my part while trying to save a little time scooting over the pressure crack south of Center Reef—such a rookie move! Maybe I’ll grow up someday. Thanks for the tug, Jonathan! Many anglers got stuck up to their axles trying to get on and off the Bay, especially in the north. Poor tires and no shovel made for a bad mix today. However, the best tread on your vehicle doesn’t help much if you’re hung up. It wasn’t just the trucks that had trouble; lighter machines were also struggling in the deeper spots and found it difficult to get themselves from the drifted areas of slush. All part of the adventure.
