What’s Hot, What’s Not

The walleye bite has been tough. So, if you’re not on it during the narrow bite window, it’s likely to be over before you know it even started. Frustrating? Maybe, or just a realistic part of the game. Want to boost morale? Target some perch that aren’t as finicky as walleye can be. Marv is a perch Ninja and knows how to put a thumping on em with an incidental walleye bagged more often than not. Pictured is some of today’s catch! Thanks for sharing, Marv!! Minnows, waxies, and wigglers have been doing the trick. Of course, with the short supply of wigglers, it’s not a surprise that perch would prefer the less available option. Delivered this morning, our allotment of wigglers ran out before the end of the day. Though they are in limited supply, they are big and some of the best wigglers we get. The 40s are in the forecast now by the weekend, as the predicted highs are even warmer than previously expected. The ice will hold up well, except in the usual areas of concern: high current areas like river tributaries and shallow areas like Garth Point, the Days River Sandbar, or Butler’s Reef. Butler’s is a hazard waiting to happen and is soon to take its next motorized machine. It’s all but a certainty with the upcoming warm temperatures. I’d sure like to be proven wrong on that.
