Full Moon Tonight

A light flurry of snow made for a tranquil time on Little Bay de Noc this afternoon, whitewashing the ice with a blanket less than an inch thick—just enough for a little insulation around the shack. A full moon tonight for the many anglers camping out overnight on the Bay. Although likely obscured by cloud cover, they might catch a glimpse of it in the morning when it sets. I’ll make another attempt tonight to boost the confidence of any anglers struggling to put fish on the ice. Here’s an awesome walleye caught by Ben and his dad, Nick Deneau, who masterfully worked together to bring this beautiful walleye up the hole and onto the ice today. It measured 31-1/2 inches and weighed just under 10 pounds. Ben is a Kipling native and an avid young angler in the area, who knows what fish are for—the frying pan. Enjoy!

Increasing your odds,
