The cold air and a stiff breeze didn’t stop Ice anglers from fishing favorable conditions on Little Bay de Noc. Gaining ice thickness every day and it’s adding up. Some predict truck travel between Christmas and New Years. I don’t know about that. We’ll see. Snowmobiles, ATV’s and UTV’s have started roaming the ice. Tugging out permanent shanties, anglers are positioning them for optimal fish harvesting. Last season looked to have a record number of permanent shacks on the bay in a long time. With the ideal ice conditions so early this season the village will turn into a city. A slight warm up and a few flurries in the forecast this week shouldn’t compromise the quality of ice conditions. Early ice has the resorts booking up fast. Make a plan and make a reservation while there’s availability. I found an archive picture tonight of our permanent shack from years ago. So many memories camped out on center reef with our kids and good friends.
