Heaves Be Gone

All the heaves from pressure cracks we had on the bay since the warm up have settled down. Now with this cold snap they’ve frozen up pretty solid. Be it walking or light machines, most are crossing with ease. Until this changes, the Kipling Launch and the Yellow & Red Gate Accesses are game on. Across the bay on the east side from the Vagabond down to Hunters Point landings are looking great. The temperature is 11°  as of 9 o’clock EST. we’re shooting for some single digits overnight coming up. Photo tonight is of an Automatic Fisherman at work. Looking real good!

    The detail about the heaves from the pressure cracks settling and then freezing solid after the cold snap is a useful reminder of how fast ice conditions can flip from sketchy to crossable. Good to hear the Kipling Launch and both gate accesses are game on again, and that single-digit overnight temps are coming to lock things in further. When I’m not watching ice reports, I usually kill a few minutes with a quick browser word game like krillion.me between trips out.
