A day of sunshine with temperatures reaching 33° on Little Bay de Noc provided optimal ice and weather conditions. It was a little breezy, but this is definitely the calm before the storm. From tonight through Sunday, it will be interesting to see if the predictions of a historic dumping of snow actually occur. Accumulating 2-3 feet of snow through Monday will dramatically affect travel on the Bay. If wind gusts of up to 60 mph come to fruition, there won’t be much snow sticking around on the ice from round one tomorrow. After that system moves on, expect a day of ice fishing bliss on Saturday until subsequent storms roll in on Sunday, with higher amounts of snow predicted than in Friday’s forecast. Tonight’s picture is the before. Stay tuned for the after.
Increasing your odds,
