Good As It Gets

Another perfect day for anglers basking in the sun, eagerly waiting for the impending front. Enormous numbers of walleye are staging in the bay for their spring spawning ritual. Anglers are ready and hopeful that this weather system will trigger some aggressive feeding. Snow on the ice could be compromised by rain Friday night; that will depend on the amount of precipitation that actually falls. Either way, temperatures are above freezing now and will continue into early next week, so some puddling is expected. The Red Gate Ice access is currently good, with the potential to become sloppy due to the amount of snow remaining. The Kipling Public Launch has hard-packed snow and continues to be an excellent location to get on and off the ice. The first things that go to heck are the landings; those conditions will be the focus of reports to come. Pictured tonight is the Gladstone skyline, highlighting the snow covered Bay and the edge of a thunderous rain event predicted to start Friday afternoon.

Increasing your odds,
