Warm weather we haven’t seen in weeks is upon us for the next couple days. Perfect time to knock down some snow and refreeze. The 6-8 inches of ice on Little Bay de Noc is looking good. That being said, always use caution especially in the shallows where ice deteriorates most when the mercury jumps above freezing. This warm up might curtail ice forming south of Gladstone. But to the north ice is locked in and I’d be surprised if measurements aren’t over a foot by New Years. Better ask Santa for an auger extension.
The perch bite continued to be steady. But the walleye bite went sluggish over the weekend. That’s sure to change with a more favorable barometric pressure in the forecast. Tonight, found on the ice was a hub shelter that likely bounced or rolled off a sled. If you’re missing one, get a hold of us at Blade’s Bait & Tackle for its recovery. I’m not speechless, but am without a picture worth looking at to post tonight.
